Itinerary
Day 1 – Hotel pickup & Fly to BearCamp
7:30 AM pickup at your Anchorage hotel, followed by an incredibly scenic 135 mile trip to Great Alaska. Following orientation and lunch, it’s onto the plane for a 50 minute bush flight to Bear Camp. Spend the day with the royalty of Alaskan wildlife. Overnight in double occupancy weather-port tent/cabins.
Day 2 – Bear Viewing & Return to Lodge
Your final day in the wilderness. Spend the morning enjoying hot coffee and your new friends as they wander about the meadow and work to put on the coat of fat they will need for the coming winter. After lunch you’ll board the bush plane for the return flight to the main lodge, settle in to your riverfront rooms and enjoy happy hour, dinner and evening activities.
Day 3 – Guided Salmon Fishing
Today you’ll rise early, enjoy a hearty breakfast, and then pack your lunch from the deli spread in the lodge, then hit the water with your guide, targeting in-season Alaska Salmon on the world famous Kenai or Kasilof rivers. Troll, cast or drift the innumerable runs and back channels of this great fishery. Your guide will share his knowledge of the area and fishing techniques to ensure a great day. Return to the lodge in the afternoon.
Day 4 – Glacier & Wildlife Viewing
Today you’ll leave the rods at camp enjoy Alaska’s top single day cruise..in spectacular Kenai Fjords National Park. Orca, Gray whales, Humpbacks, Sea Otter, Puffin and a myriad of sea birds call this amazing fjord home during the summer, with thousands of other species as well.
Day 5 – Trophy Trout Fishing
Today we’ll target Trophy Rainbow Trout, (# two of «The Big Three»). We’ll seek the Kenai River’s world famous trout via fly or spinning rods (or both if you prefer). Either way, you’ll enjoy some of the finest trout fishing in the world. (Like all the fishing trips, for those who want to focus on the salmon, you can opt for another day chasing them instead. It’s up to you.) Overnight at the riverfront lodge.
Day 6 – Offshore Halibut Fishing
Today is day three of «The Big Three» (Salmon, Halibut and Trout). We’ll be Halibut fishing offshore in Cook inlet or Resurrection Bay/Prince William Sound and it could easily be your favorite day of fishing! Incredible scenery, glaciers, whales and sea life all abound on these trips and make the fishing a bonus (albeit a big, big bonus!). Depending upon the current conditions and the time of year for your trip, you may see Black Bass, Yelloweye Rockfish, Ling Cod and Silver and Pink salmon come over the rails, along with the «official» target, Pacific Halibut. Return to the lodge just in time to enjoy happy hour and dinner.
Day 7 – Your Choice: Fish or Hike
Your final day..choose from a wonderful hike to a waterfall to view leaping salmon, or target one last day of salmon or trout fishing on the river. Return to the lodge at noon and check out at 2:30.
